Online Classes for Middle & High School Students (KCDL)

Today's generation is all about technology- cell phones, ipods, gaming, computers, etc.- it's called the internet generation, or "iGeneration".  The iGeneration has never known life without the Internet, being mobile, using avatars, IMing or choosing and watching content almost whenever & wherever they want.

To reach them in their high-tech, high-touch world, many parents and educators are looking at how to rewire schools to match how the iGeneration learns- that's where KC Distance Learning (KCDL) comes in.  They offer online classes for middle & high school students... from the home-schooled family, the student brushing up on skills to compete at the next level, or the child facing challenges in traditional schools such as bullying... KCDL provides academic solutions to fit your child's needs.

When you visit KCDL, you simply click on your state to get started.  The majority of states only offer privately licensed online schooling, but there were 7 states that also offered online public school.  Once you click on the school for your state, it will provide you with all the school information including curriculum and tuition rates (if applicable).

The private school that's offered in every state is The Keystone School.  They offer the option of enrolling in a full-time curriculum package or in individual courses to supplement a traditional school or homeschool curriculum.  To make online schooling more accessible, they offer payment plans, a discount program for enrolling more than 1 child and for active-duty military members, and even have a 30 day money-back guarantee for all new students, to ensure that Keystone is exactly the academic experience you were looking for.

Keystone students learn at a distance, but the support and school experience are hands-on.  From the minute your child enrolls in the Keystone program, you and your child can access teachers, learning coaches, counselors, administrative staff, and other students.  We're always just an email or phone call away.  Your child can connect with other students through message boards, extracurricular activities, and even a staff-moderated Keystone Facebook page.

Check out this survey conducted by KCDL & Aventa Learning- it says that 88% of teens want more electives, online classes, and flexible schedules, and 55% of kids say that bullying is a problem and a daily concern.  You can also click on the following link to experience how students engage with their teachers and classmates online, in a recorded session where students from around the country come together outside of class to discuss the results of the "iGeneration" survey with their teacher and hear their insights.

What do you think- do you already, or would you ever, let your middle or high schooler take classes online?

Bronzed Envy- Can Tan {GIVEAWAY} ends 8/14 (U.S. ONLY)

**CLOSED**

With the end of summer nearing, it becomes harder to maintain that bronzed glow and keep a tan throughout the winter.  Your tan always eventually fades, unless you're constantly going to the tanning salon- but who wants to do that with a foot of snow on the ground?  And tanning in the sun, as we all know, isn't good for our skin anyway.  Well here's a great company, with awesome products to keep that summer glow all year long and in a safe way- Bronzed Envy.
Here's more info. on the company and it's creator, Blakeley Smart- a Certified Sunless Specialist:
My name is Blakeley and I live in Austin, TX.  I am a stay at home mom of two boys.  I always knew I wanted to start my own business, but I didn't quite know what.  After doing some researching for a family member about safer, quicker ways to tan I came across Airbrush Tanning.  I instantly fell in love with the idea and wanted to start my own Mobile Airbrush Tanning Service.  I started Bronzed Envy in October 2008 and the rest is history.  People were calling right away!  I make my own hours, and am able to be home for my kids during the day.  After 4 months I had to hire my fist "helper" and after 6 months, I was so busy I couldn't believe it!
This service is so popular and women all over the place are attaching the word "addicting" to this service.  All it takes is ONE tan and you are addicted!  The results are a natural toasted almond bronze, with NO orange or red undertones in the solution!  I know, because I've developed the color myself.  I knew exactly what my clients were looking for, and what I couldn't find in a solution.  I have clients coming to me after trying other places and stay with me mainly because they adore my color!  I want to share this great opportunity with other women as well.  I believe its the perfect business for stay-at-home moms wanting some extra income, or someone just like me, looking for something unique to start of their own.  Its a fun, easy, low investment and high profit business!  Make your own hours, be your own boss, and stay as busy as you would like!  I can help you with everything you need to get started.  Please feel free to check out my website or email me for more information!
One of Bronzed Envy's most popular products is their Can Tan- it's just like a "Tan in a can"!
  • It's the next best thing to an airbrush tan!
  • It gives you instant tan/color right away AND also develops into a darker tan over the next few hours!
  • This stuff Rocks and is a best seller!!
  • Your very own jump start on Healthy looking beautiful skin!!
Blakeley has offered a full size bottle of her best-selling Can Tan to 1 lucky reader!!

Mandatory Entry:  Visit Bronzed Envy and tell me something else you learned or a service Blakeley offers.  Or  Tell me 1 of her sunless tanning tips.

Rock 'N Learn DVD- Phonics Vol. 1 {Review & Giveaway} Ends 8/10

**CLOSED**

My oldest daughter, who just turned 5 years old this summer, will be heading into Kindergarten in the Fall.  She has a love of learning and I've been working with her on letter sounds, first sight words, and overall just getting her ready to take that next step and learn to read.  My daughter, like most kids, also has a love of music.  Even at 5 she can memorize songs from her favorite show or off the radio.

The Rock 'N Learn products incorporate these two aspects- music and learning, to teach your child in a way that they enjoy and can easily learn.  Rock ’N Learn programs help students learn math, phonics, reading, early childhood, social studies, Spanish, test-taking strategies, writing, and science.  Headquartered in Conroe, Texas, just north of Houston, it is owned and operated by founders, Richard and Brad Caudle.

Working as a school psychologist in 1986, Richard saw the need for multi-sensory learning programs using the styles of music that kids love. He consulted his younger brother Brad, an accomplished musician, to record their first program to help kids learn multiplication facts. Since then, the company has grown to encompass more than 50 products- including its best-selling educational video programs and audio books that can be found in schools and homes throughout the U.S. and worldwide.  It has received multiple awards, including Dr. Toy, Parents' Choice, Teachers' Choice, & Mom's Best Awards.

We watched the Phonics Vol. 1 DVD and my daughter absolutely loved it- she was dancing & bopping while she was watching (and learning)!  I thought maybe it would be too advanced for her as it's for ages 6 & up, and though it did have some more advanced stuff, I can see it's going to be a great learning tool, especially for getting ready for Kindergarten.  She knew all the vowel sounds already that were at the beginning of the DVD and was able to repeat all the words.  And eventually she'll be able to read the complete sentences.  I like that on the DVD they show a close-up of a mouth as they're saying the word, so the kids can see how it's supposed to be said.

My daughter was also completely enamored with the main character- saying "I like his hair, and clothes, and guitar- he's awesome!".  Even my 2 yr. old got into it and started saying some of the letter sounds!  And what do you suppose my 5 yr. old wanted to watch right after she woke up the next morning?  Yup, that's right, her new Rock 'N Learn DVD!  I have a feeling we'll be getting Phonics Vol. 2 soon after Kindergarten starts.

To purchase your own videos for your child, find a store near you.  Rock 'N Learn videos can also be rented on YouTube, from $.99- $2.99 for 7 days (and you can watch the trailers for free).

Want a chance to WIN your own Phonics Vol 1. DVD??

Mandatory Entry:  Visit Rock 'N Learn and tell me another product you'd love to have for your child.
