Rock 'N Learn DVD- Phonics Vol. 1 {Review & Giveaway} Ends 8/10

**CLOSED**

My oldest daughter, who just turned 5 years old this summer, will be heading into Kindergarten in the Fall.  She has a love of learning and I've been working with her on letter sounds, first sight words, and overall just getting her ready to take that next step and learn to read.  My daughter, like most kids, also has a love of music.  Even at 5 she can memorize songs from her favorite show or off the radio.

The Rock 'N Learn products incorporate these two aspects- music and learning, to teach your child in a way that they enjoy and can easily learn.  Rock ’N Learn programs help students learn math, phonics, reading, early childhood, social studies, Spanish, test-taking strategies, writing, and science.  Headquartered in Conroe, Texas, just north of Houston, it is owned and operated by founders, Richard and Brad Caudle.

Working as a school psychologist in 1986, Richard saw the need for multi-sensory learning programs using the styles of music that kids love. He consulted his younger brother Brad, an accomplished musician, to record their first program to help kids learn multiplication facts. Since then, the company has grown to encompass more than 50 products- including its best-selling educational video programs and audio books that can be found in schools and homes throughout the U.S. and worldwide.  It has received multiple awards, including Dr. Toy, Parents' Choice, Teachers' Choice, & Mom's Best Awards.

We watched the Phonics Vol. 1 DVD and my daughter absolutely loved it- she was dancing & bopping while she was watching (and learning)!  I thought maybe it would be too advanced for her as it's for ages 6 & up, and though it did have some more advanced stuff, I can see it's going to be a great learning tool, especially for getting ready for Kindergarten.  She knew all the vowel sounds already that were at the beginning of the DVD and was able to repeat all the words.  And eventually she'll be able to read the complete sentences.  I like that on the DVD they show a close-up of a mouth as they're saying the word, so the kids can see how it's supposed to be said.

My daughter was also completely enamored with the main character- saying "I like his hair, and clothes, and guitar- he's awesome!".  Even my 2 yr. old got into it and started saying some of the letter sounds!  And what do you suppose my 5 yr. old wanted to watch right after she woke up the next morning?  Yup, that's right, her new Rock 'N Learn DVD!  I have a feeling we'll be getting Phonics Vol. 2 soon after Kindergarten starts.

To purchase your own videos for your child, find a store near you.  Rock 'N Learn videos can also be rented on YouTube, from $.99- $2.99 for 7 days (and you can watch the trailers for free).
