Ancient Stones Mineral Makeup {Review & Giveaway} Ends 2/3

Launched in September 2003, Ancient Stones Nurturing Naturals is jointly ran and managed by Gloria Webb-Williams (CEO) and Cathlene Michaels-Brader (CFO).  Gloria and Cathlene bring many years of holistic, beauty, sales and marketing and technology knowledge allowing them to collaborate on the products and services of their company.  Their mineral makeup uses only pure colors from the earth's natural mineral source and they have no additives, fillers, preservatives, dyes, perfumes, or talc in them... truly all natural.

Ancient Stones' Mission Statement:
Our mission is to beautify and nurture the human body through our makeup and holistic products. By promoting the understanding of ourselves as compassionate beings to the world through holistic teachings, we intend to educate the mind, strengthen the body and lighten the Spirit. Our goal is to facilitate these things through improved living, universal prosperity and life appreciation.
When I tried the makeup the containers were a tad messy so I had to lean over the sink while applying it to make sure I didn't get any on the floor or my clothes.  You start with the Super Soft Focus (SPF 50+ and gives a slight glow) as your base coat and then apply the mineral foundationI was sent Jean's Jewell.  I thought the foundation felt a little heavy on so gently blotted with a tissue to remove any excess.  I am not one to wear much makeup though and do also have a dry complexion so that could've created the feeling.

For eye shadows they have over 50 shades to choose from- and you can also blend colors to create your own.  I received the Butter Cream and Sheba's Sigh, both colors were beautiful and shimmery.  I used the lighter shade as the brow highlight and then the darker color on my eyelid and crease.  When I first saw the Sheba's Sigh I wasn't sure if I was going to like it as I've never used a shade that color, but I absolutely loved the way it looked.  I thought the complete look was fresh and natural and just enhanced my face.

After applying your desired makeup, they also have 10 different blushes for your cheeks and 16+ lip shadows for beautiful lips, you finish it all off with the Ancient Elixir Setting Spray.  The spray seals in the makeup and gives an airbrushed look.  It's meant to set your makeup so that even after working out, swimming, or just daily activities it won't smudge or run off.  I'm not sure I really noticed a difference with or without it, as the makeup stayed on all day without wearing off either way.

Key Benefits
1. Gives the skin a beautiful glow
2. Seals the makeup
3. Prevents makeup from coming off the face
4. Antibacterial (silver is an anti-bacterial)

5. Elasticity (the copper gives the apperance of more elasticity to the skin)

Ingredients:
Distilled water, silver and copper

**EDIT:  The Ancient Stones Mineral Makeup website is a tad confusing and hard to use (as commenters have noted) so I wanted to add a few things.  From their homepage, if you click the link that says How Do I Select My Colors, it gives recommendations based on skin tone and color.  Then to view the foundation and concealer colors, you click the tab at the top called 'All about the Face' and scroll thru the pages until you find the one that was recommended for you and it'll show you a picture, though not that great of quality.  Also before they sent me my samples she asked for a recent photo of me so they could see my face and skintone.  I think if you were unsure of what colors to pick, you could email them at ancientstonesmineralmakeup@yahoo.com and they'd be more than happy to help.  They also have a money-back guarantee if you were unsatisfied with anything.

Hi Susan, very nice pic of you by the way! :-) When I went to the site to take a look at the different shades of foundation, I couldn't find a chart that showed what each color was. I am a person who wants to see everything first before I buy it. I am very pale, and so I always needs to lightest color, and after a look around, it dawned on me that I couldn't find what the lightest color was. Instead, I found a list of alphabetized colors. Finally, I did find the list of recommendations, but they were based upon what the undertone of my skin was (if it's blue, there was one recommendation, if it's pink, there was another recommendation), but I have no idea what my undertone is! ;-) Anyway, so instead, the shade that I would try would be the Goodbye Red, which would help to hide red spots and freckles... which we know I have a lot of!

  67. Susie B., I wanted to thank you so much for reviewing our products as well as running the giveaway. I was checking out your blog and I noticed some very valuable comments from you and your subscribers. So, let’s see if I can respond to some of the inquiries. First, our products are unlike any others in the marketplace because we do not add fillers and additives. So, when I say you use a little bit it is really a little bit. In fact if you see the color on your skin it normally means either the color is not the right color for your skin type or in most cases you are applying way too much product :-).
I also wanted to clarify the difference between the Super Soft Focus and the Foundation. Super Soft Focus is our powdered sun screen. So when you are out and about and you want to protect your skin from the sun, simply apply a light coat of the Super Soft Focus to your face, neck, shoulders, arms, etc., and then spray the Ancient Elixir Setting Spray to set the product on your skin so it will not come off on your clothes. This product can be used anytime you do not want to wear foundation. So you do not have to wear the two together.
Our mineral foundation is very light, so to apply you would put a small amount into the lid of the container. Then take the brush we sent you and roll the bristle into the product and then tap the base of the brush down on the counter to load the makeup. After the makeup disappears into the bristles of the brush take the brush and caress your skin to apply the makeup on your face and neck. This is why a little bit goes a long way because you do not have to use a lot to get the desired natural look. Remember you can always apply an additional layer if you want more coverage, but once again, a little bit goes a long way. So please try this out and let me know if you like the results better.
I am happy you liked the eye shadow colors and like the foundation, I hope you found that a little bit gave you the desired look. You can also take those two colors and create a smoky eye by applying them wet or more intense.
I hope you will try the Ancient Elixir Setting Spray because I know you are going to love it.
I also wanted to thank you for your edit to help the ladies better understand how to navigate our website. Please let them know they can always send us a picture and we will work with them to select the best concealer, foundation, blush, eye shadows and lip colors for their skin type. While I love the honest “it sucks” comment, I want your subscribers to know that we are working very hard to get pictures of ladies to say, I am a Jean’s Jewell or a Beary Plush (to name a couple) as a sample page. We have taken numerous pictures of our products and they just do not show as well in the containers as they do on the skin. In addition we are working to improve the ease of use by changing the navigation of the site and this will be completed by the end of March.
Well, I could talk makeup with you for pages LOL, but I do not want to take up too much of your time. I look forward to hearing from you with your list of winners and once again, thank you so much for your kind words and your support.
    All the best,
    Gloria
