Toddlers and Mail

My toddler loves to rip help me open the mail.  When the mail carrier delivers the mail it causes such excitement and pure joy in my toddler.  It doesn't matter what kind of mail it is- bills, letters, even junk mail are opened with the same enthusiasm.

Of course this presents a problem when I'm trying to actually mail something out.  I have a small table by the door where I set the outgoing mail.  Well... it doesn't always make it safely to the mailbox.  You see, my toddler loves to tear & rip lovingly open things so much, that nothing is sacred.  So those envelopes I had stamped and ready to go... are now nothing but shreds.  Guess it's time to invest in more envelopes or a shelf that can be installed higher on the wall.  Or perhaps a motion sensor alarm system that will detect all toddler movement within 2 feet of the front door.  Oh the joys of having a 2 year old in the house!
