Family Vacation Plans

You may have read my post before where I talked about us not really going anywhere this summer, other than probably camping in our own backyard (well really out at Grandpa's in the country).  But recently my husband and I got talking about Disney World.  Well actually our 5 year old brought it up and said she wished she could go visit the Princesses at their castle (aww, melted my heart).  So that got my husband and I talking about it and looking at Disney World Packages online.

Prices aren't that outrageous and I think we'd go with a Disney World and Sea World combo package, and to make it worthwhile at least a 5 day stay.  But even though you can find some really great packages for pretty cheap nowadays, I just don't think it's a possibility for us right now.  Of course we would love to be able to take them all but really with the littlest one being 8 months old, we wouldn't be able to enjoy all the stuff that the older girls wanted to do.  I can remember going when I was younger but don't quite really remember it, ya know?  I'd like all the girls to be a little older to really get the entire experience (and of course, if they can all walk and are potty trained that would be a plus).

So we told our oldest that once her little sister turns 3 we'll start looking into going to Disney World again.  The question is will she still be into Princesses like she is now?  I'm not sure, but I think either way we'll all have a blast if we can actually make it happen!  Have you and your family done the Disney World vacation yet?  If so how many days did you stay and did you get to do everything you wanted in that amount of time?  If you haven't gone do you plan on going once your kids are older?

I would love to take my girls, but not until they are a bit older. My oldest just turned 3 and my youngest is turning 2 this year. I want to ideally wait til they are 5 and 6 or 6 and 7 so they remember it a little better. I don't remember much of anything until 1st grade with tidbits of 4 and 5 years old.

My parents brought me for the first time when I was 13, and we stayed for a week. It was great and we got to spend a day at each park and then choose which ones to revisit to get in a few things we didn't see the first go around. Such great memories, and I still had a great time when we went again a few years later. My parents have a time share down there, otherwise I doubt they could have afforded to bring a family of 7 down even the once.

My husband and I did Disney World, when I didn't have children. We saw all four Disney Locations (epcot, magic kingdom, hollywood studios, magic kingdom AND seaworld all in a 5 day period. NOT enough time in my opinion! The first day alone we walked a total of 16 miles in Epcot, I'm sure with children we would have had a big problem back then. It wouldn't have been the same. So I'd say if you had longer it'd be better otherwise you have to determine what is more important to you. We also didn't do many rides too, which you have to account for.

Either way it's magical and fun! I'm sure you will all enjoy it no matter how much older your children will be by then!

I want to take my two girls when they're around 4 and 6, or 5 and 7 I think. They are only 1 and 3 now.

You will be surprised at how long the Princess "thing" will last. My girls are grown now and I remember how long they loved Disney!!
